An alleged drunk driving accident caused a series of collisions that took the lives of three men and left five other people heavily injured. California Highway Patrol said that he was arrested on suspicion of drinking and driving on Saturday. The suspect was said the be driving north from I-805 and making his way to the transition ramp to head westbound on Route 52.
The crash initially started when the suspected drunk driver lost control of his vehicle. As the car veered off the road and into the dirt embankment, it rolled several times according the dispatcher of the California Highway Patrol. The dispatcher went on to say that the vehicle was said to be a Cadillac Escalade. Four of the passengers inside of the Escalade were not wearing the seatbelt provided in the time of the crash. Two of those four were ejected from the vehicle as it was rolling and were killed almost instantly. A fifth passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, was also found dead at the scene on a curving ramp north of Clairemont Mesa. The passengers that were found dead have now been identified publicly as a 35-year-old Ridgecrest man, a 23-year-old San Diego man and a 29-year-old San Diego man.
The initial crash caused three other vehicles the crash into each other as well. The surviving passengers that were inside of the SUV were taken to the Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Officers on the scene determined that the driver of the Escalade had been drinking and driving. The driver was later arrested at the hospital. His name has not publicly be announced.

The San Jose Police department are being recognized for their heroic display of actions as they rescued the survivors of a chain reaction car crash. The wreck closed down Capital Expressway for many hours from the late night to the early morning. The Mercedes managed to catch fire during the crash and the driver tried to run away on foot while leaving three passengers inside of the burning vehicle. The officers saw that the car was engulfed in flames and tried to put our the fire as best as they could. The fire fighters that were on the scene said that those police officers should be looked at as heroes for being there and helping the victims before the fire department could get to the scene of the accident. The officers that helped denied interviews by the local news station, but one of the fire fighters said that without those officers, one of the passengers would not be alive today.
As of right now, the driver of the Mercedes is still in the hospital but is awaiting a multitude of charges. Tuesday night in Costa Mesa there was a tragic accident caused by two people street racing. The two cars were reported to have started racing around 10:00 p.m. The cars we reported to be a Mercedes-Benz SUV and a truck with a limited description. As the cars were racing, they were headed toward the intersection of Placentia Avenue and West Wilson Street. Completely unaware that the traffic light was red, both vehicles continued to drive through the intersection.
When the cars entered the crossroads, the SUV had hit another oncoming car and then veered off and hit a tree. According to the police, the car, which the Mercedes SUV hit, had three passengers in it. One of those passengers happened to be a 10-year-old boy who suffered serious head trauma. The child was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The victims in the accident suffered from severe injuries caused by the crash. The three of them were rushed to the Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
Detectives have stated to the local news network (KCAL9) that the Mercedes was being driven by a 21-year-old woman was questioned at the scene after the accident. As of right now there have been no arrests made by the police, but there is a strong investigation going on and the woman will most likely face charges for reckless driving. Police say that the woman was not found with any alcohol or drugs on her. The driver of the truck managed to get a clean getaway from the scene. A shadow was cast over the lovely city of Anaheim California the other day when the 27-year-old male motorcycle owner had been hit by a car. The accident left the motorcyclist critically injured on impact and his life in the hands of fate. The man was identified as Evan Achstien and was said to be a resident of the Anaheim area. The accident was reported to have happened around 7 a.m. Monday morning October 13th right near South Western Ave and Ball Road.
A lot of information has not been released to the public such as what caused the accident, the make or model of the car or the identity of the driver that hit Achstien. One thing that is for sure is that there were no reports of either driver being intoxicated in any way. The one thing, we are for sure about the accident itself, is that they collided.
When the Anaheim Fire & Rescue got the scene, they found a man laying on the ground and not breathing. This man was Evan. Paramedics used CPR to revive Achstien so he would be able to sustain his injuries long enough to get him to the nearest hospital. Local police reported that he had died in the hospital during his surgery at about 10:45 a.m.
Lt. Bob Dunn has stated that no arrests have been made at this time. There is no information indicating if the investigation is still ongoing or not. The unidentified driver has not reported any injuries regarding that crash as of right now.
