A shadow was cast over the lovely city of Anaheim California the other day when the 27-year-old male motorcycle owner had been hit by a car. The accident left the motorcyclist critically injured on impact and his life in the hands of fate. The man was identified as Evan Achstien and was said to be a resident of the Anaheim area. The accident was reported to have happened around 7 a.m. Monday morning October 13th right near South Western Ave and Ball Road.
A lot of information has not been released to the public such as what caused the accident, the make or model of the car or the identity of the driver that hit Achstien. One thing that is for sure is that there were no reports of either driver being intoxicated in any way. The one thing, we are for sure about the accident itself, is that they collided.
When the Anaheim Fire & Rescue got the scene, they found a man laying on the ground and not breathing. This man was Evan. Paramedics used CPR to revive Achstien so he would be able to sustain his injuries long enough to get him to the nearest hospital. Local police reported that he had died in the hospital during his surgery at about 10:45 a.m.
Lt. Bob Dunn has stated that no arrests have been made at this time. There is no information indicating if the investigation is still ongoing or not. The unidentified driver has not reported any injuries regarding that crash as of right now.

On Sunday, April 6th in the city of San Diego there was an awful accident that occurred on Interstate 8 involving a Ford Explorer and multiple other vehicles. The accident left the three people in the Explorer ejected from their car. One of the victims was reported dead on the scene, and the other two left severely injured.
The accident first started around 1:40 a.m. The people inside the Ford were heading east when the driver of the vehicle lost control on the freeway near Hotel Circle. According to the California Highway Patrol, the car had flipped and caused the victims to be ejected from their seats. The three of them were found lying in the road. One individual involved in the accident sustained fatal injuries while the others were left with moderate to severe injuries. It was never confirmed or denied if the passengers in the Explorer were wearing any seat belts, but if you are in a vehicle make sure you take advantage of the safety equipment provided. They are there to save your life and you never know when things like this are going to happen.
The occupants of the Explorer were then taken to the nearest hospital. There were also three other vehicles that suffered from the accident. One of the vehicles is said to have been heavily damaged according to the California Highway Patrol. The information available on the other drivers is little to none. There are no news on their injuries or the make and models of what cars they were driving. All, that is clear, is that they were in a crash caused by this incident.
The Eastbound 8 Freeway was shut down by local authorities temperately at Taylor Street. However, this raised all sorts of tension between commuters trying to get where they needed to go in a timely manner. There was even a fight that broke out between a motorist and a cab driver. As it’s told, the motorist tried to pass the taxi driver to get on the freeway. Apparently didn’t sit very well with the cab driver.
The important thing, to remember, is that accidents like this are prone to happen from time to time. There are however steps you can take if you do find yourself being in one of these incidents. If you or someone you know live in San Diego and were involved in a collision and are injured, make sure that you contact a accident attorney in San Diego.
Costa Mesa was the sad setting for a car collision that turned into a hit and run on Tuesday October 28th. Allegedly the accident was caused by the driver of a red Toyota Corolla being under the influence while he was driving. Six total were injured in the crash and were taken to the hospital. The incident first started when Costa Mesa police Lt. Greg Scott tried to pull over the Corolla on Harbor Boulevard around 6:15 p.m. Refusing to stop, the driver kept driving further down the road towards Wilson Street.
From what Greg Scott said, The Corolla kept going and sideswiped a gray Ford pickup heading south on Harbor which was the start of all of the chaos. Then the truck was forced into a head on collision into a Chevrolet Equinox. The Equinox was hit so hard it began to spin out and smashed into a Hyundai Elantra that was heading toward the northern side of Harbor, then the Chevy ended off the road and into a local Chinese kitchen. When the fire department got there they inspected the building that had been hit and deemed that the damage was not severe enough to close or condemn the building which was great news for the business owners.
A total of 6 people injured in the car accident. Four of them were taken to the Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo for medical attention. The other two were sent to the UCI Medical Center in Orange. Police made a point to say that thankfully none of their injuries were a matter of life and death situation.
The driver of the Corolla did not get away free. Police arrested the driver and charged him with suspicion of felony driving under the influence and felony hit-and-run. The driver was then identified by police Tuesday night as Jose Chanico-Retana, 35, a resident of Costa Mesa. At this point, the investigation is still ongoing.
Harbor Boulevard was completely shut down in both directions by local police while the crash was cleaned up. Streets were reopened around 7:30 p.m.

Late Saturday evening, Gary S. Hunt was arrested on Sunday October 19th, for suspicion of driving under the influence. Hunt had caused a wreck that involved two other cars in Anaheim California. One of the cars that were involved was a Toyota Camry. The Toyota Camry had a family of five inside of it and was smashed in the rear by Hunt’s Toyota pickup.
The accident happened right before midnight Saturday around 11:58 p.m. at the intersection of North Euclid Street and West La Palma Avenue according to Lt. Bob Dunn of the Anaheim Police Department.
The two parents were in the front two seats, and the three brothers were all in the back. Their car was stopped at a red light in a southbound lane on North Euclid Street. As they were stopped at the light waiting for it to change, the black truck, which was driven by Hunt, had rear-ended the back of the Camry. The Camry had then been pushed into the intersection (due to the momentum of Hunt’s Toyota pickup) where they were hit by an oncoming Honda Civic that had no choice but to sideswiped the family in the Camry.
The five of them were quickly rushed to the nearest hospital which happened to be the Anaheim Regional Medical Center. When the family had arrived at the hospital, one, the children had sadly lost his life at the age of 10 years old. Later the child was identified as Rafael Ramirez. Extended family members of the victims said that the rest of the family was expected to be okay. While the passenger the Honda Civic was treated on site of the scene and did not seek further medical attention, the driver of the car was taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
Hunt was arrested on site by Anaheim police. The reason for his arrest was the suspicion of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol while driving his vehicle. A significant result of the entire accident. Footage from local news outlets shows the Hunt being handcuffed and put into the back of the police officers car and appearing to have no injuries from the accident

The first lesson any lawyer who wants to handle motorcycle crash cases learns is that you can’t handle these cases like car crashes. Liability will nearly always be denied. Even if fault is clear there will be attempts to blame the motorcyclist for “failure to avoid”. This defense can be based on the thinnest of evidence. Unless the case is quickly and carefully documented the evidence to defeat such defenses may be lost.
1. Motorcycle crash witnesses’ estimates of speed are seldom right. Witnesses will overestimate the speed of a motorcycle proportionally to the loudness of the exhaust and brightness of the color. Studies show that even those experienced in this area will place the speed of a motorcycle with loud pipes and bright colors well above that of a drab and quiet bike. For this reason it is important to have a qualified motorcycle crash reconstructionist investigate the crash as soon as possible.
2. Research shows drivers do see you. Other drivers do see motorcycles far more often than believed. Studies show that drivers misinterpret information regarding the motorcycle. They estimate the distance poorly and rarely accurately judge speed. Good defensive riders appreciate this fact and assume they will not be seen, or if seen not given the right of way. Automobilists often claim the motorcycle had no lighting or exaggerate speed to cover their fault.
3. Motorcycle speed can be accurately estimated from crash data. Several methods of estimating impact speed in car v. motorcycle cases have been studied. Skid length, wheel deformation, fork displacement and throw distance all factors into the equation. The length of skid marks, number of tires locked, points of impact and rest and data regarding the roadway all enter the equation and must be documented as soon as possible.

Personal injuries usually occur in in some kind of road collision. A personal injury is when damage has been done to your personal body rather then to your belongings. If you have been a victim to personal injury in Sacramento, California, it is important to contact a Sacramento personal injury attorney as soon as possible because in many cases you could be entitled to compensation for medical bills and the injuries suffered. A few examples of the types of accidents that a personal injury attorney could help you with are:
Not only do personal injuries occur on the road, they also happen in places you would never even think of! In 2008, the 50 sixth-grade students of Hillsboro’s West Union Elementary School were happily taking their class picture on a Friday morning when the bleachers suddenly collapsed underneath them, injuring six of the students. This would also be a case for a personal injury attorney. In another case, a pit-bull named Clifford escaped from a pen that was too small to hold him in 2012. After escaping, he attacked and injured two boys, one of whom received over five hours of surgery to repair a critical artery. The owners of the dogs were liable which made reason for a personal injury attorney to take on the case.
Car accidents take place a lot more often in busy cities then on rural country sides. This is true because of the increase in vehicles, motorcycles, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Recently In Lindenwold New Jersey, a bus driver took a corner and hit a Honda Civic that was driving on the wrong side of the road. The Civic then spun out of control, hitting a pedestrian that was mowing his lawn. This is not only a car accident, but also a pedestrian accident.
Motorcycle riders should always take more precautions then automobile drivers because just being on a motorcycle is less safe. The motorcyclists’ risk of a death in any kind of road accident is 35 times greater than for automobile drivers. When riding a motorcycle, drivers should always wear proper protective gear and drive safely to avoid motorcycle accidents.
Not only do motorcyclists need to take extra precautions on the road, so do bicyclists. In 2009 alone, more then 600 people were killed while riding their bike. Bicycle accidents can be easily avoided by, wearing the appropriate protective gear, riding in a bike lane, ride with not against traffic, use lights or bright colored clothing when riding at night time, and always be aware of your surroundings. It is important that automobile drivers are more aware of bicyclists as well and to be cautious when driving near them.
