Tuesday night in Costa Mesa there was a tragic accident caused by two people street racing. The two cars were reported to have started racing around 10:00 p.m. The cars we reported to be a Mercedes-Benz SUV and a truck with a limited description. As the cars were racing, they were headed toward the intersection of Placentia Avenue and West Wilson Street. Completely unaware that the traffic light was red, both vehicles continued to drive through the intersection.
When the cars entered the crossroads, the SUV had hit another oncoming car and then veered off and hit a tree. According to the police, the car, which the Mercedes SUV hit, had three passengers in it. One of those passengers happened to be a 10-year-old boy who suffered serious head trauma. Detectives have stated to the local news network (KCAL9) that the Mercedes was being driven by a 21-year-old woman was questioned at the scene after the accident.
